The final was played against Bletchingley at Cuddington.
Adam Grant won 4 and 2 and played excellent golf beating a guy (playing off 5) who had won the Surrey junior knockout for the last 2 years running. Jordan Cooley playing off 11 played a 9 handicapper and again played very solid golf to win 4and 3 Harry Sellars won 5 and 4 off 12 (his opponent off 10); Harry started slowly going 2 down after 4 holes but soon found his confidence hitting 3 birdies on the 7th 8th and 9th holes and soon going 5up after 13 holes - again great golf. Matthew Hyatt playing his first competitive game for the team playing off 16(only 12 years old) played the game of his life smashing his opponent 6 and 5, another star for the future in the Woodcote Junior section. Patrick Willard playing his 1st Fairways competition (remember only 11 yrs old) played some great and at times mature golf playing off 17 opponent 19, Patrick lost the game 3 and 2 but during the game never went more than 2 down until late in the game and showed reat spirit - he never gave up the chance of winning and showed great attitude in congratulating his opponent when losing. Alex Bernadello won 2 and 1 playing off 19 his opponent playing off 20 (horizontal as usual) one of the aces up our sleeve at the moment very steady player great manners. The Team won 5-1 against a team who were in 4 finals this year and as their captain said at the after dinner speech 'we got hammered by a better team'.
As a Junior Organiser for Woodcote it made me very proud of the way they all turned up wearing the club shirt and the support and encouragement they showed towards each other was great as well as their manners whilst in the clubhouse and course. I must say the junior section have a great future ahead of them with other youngsters coming through the academy section.
The team qualified for the Captains Trophy at Farnham Golf Club, and they played very well to come third behind a strong local side.
