Roy Kemp and Stephen Mulcahy completed their enjoyable run of golf at West Hill GC Monday 24 October in the South East Regional Final event of the 2011 Volvo Match Play Pairs event. The format accommodated in excess of 3000 golfers throughout the UK who entered into either the Individual or Pairs tournament with the ultimate aim of securing just 44 places on offer at the Grand Final to be held in Portugal in January 2012. Having won all their initial regional qualifying rounds the Woodcote pair needed to card a top 3 finish from 21 Pairs at the regional final day at West Hill GC, Woking. That would secure their final place to join 42 others at the luxurious 5* Vale Do Lobo resort in Portugal to compete in the Grand Final over 72 holes of match play better ball golf across six days. 41 points on 3/4 handicap with a strong back nine finish was strong enough to successfully take outright 2ndplace on the day for the Woodcote boys who have played together since their school days.
